For Your Family: Foster Expansion

If you have family, when is the last time you sat down to have a frank discussion about finances, your money, and what you value?

So many times families fail to have these conversations and the result is a group of people living in a dream world.  They conjure up fantasies about going on extravagant vacations but have no real financial stability to support those fantasies.  Instead of explaining that Disney World is not in our price range, we pull out the credit cards or go get new ones and make it happen.  We operate as though the money to pay for it will just materialize out of thin air.  In my world, that only happens for bankers.  They are the only ones creating money out of thin air.  For our families, most of us are working jobs and trading our time for money.

Having those frank discussions about finances, money and what you value are what’s needed to get to the place where you can go on the vacation without tying a debt noose around your neck and jeopardizing your family’s ability to function.  Who said you have to take extravagant vacations every year?  Where did that idea come from?  Could it be television programming?  Internet travel deals?  Sit down and talk about the real costs of taking trips.  Make a list and be certain everyone understands how long it would take to generate the money for such a trip.  Maybe it’s a year.  Maybe it’s five years!  Does your family even have $1,000 in the bank for emergencies like a car breaking down?  Are you doing anything to get yourself off the hamster wheel of corporate production?  Can you live beyond each paycheck?

The topic of this blog is about fostering expansion.  One of the ways we expand and grow is by facing the reality of our situations in life and by making decisions and taking actions that deal with What Is.  Then we can make a way for what is desired.  So many people got caught up in ‘The Secret,’ but one of the key ideas left out of that phenomenon was the simple fact that you must take right action.  Yes, everything is created first in mind, using your powerful imagination and intuition but you must take right action to make any of those ideas a reality.  There are no short cuts in life.  They just seem that way at the time.  Later you realize the full price that must be paid.  The credit card bills do come due.

Expanding your mind by looking at what truly is in your world can be quite liberating.  It may also feel like sitting on a razor blade as Tibetan guru Chogyam Trunkpa described it.  But that experience of dealing with what is right in your face gives you a chance to just be with what is and acknowledge it.  Then if it’s not what you want, insight can come as to how you might change it.  If you don’t face it head on, you never have this opportunity to open up and see what there is to see, feel what there is to feel and know what there is to know.  None of that is possible until you sit on that razor.

A stay-cation can be a lot of fun and it’s definitely cheaper.  Maybe you can’t even afford a stay-cation.  What is possible for your family?  What could you do together that would foster family ties?  Maybe it’s a tank of gas to go visit a long distant relative.  Maybe it’s having everybody over for Sunday brunch and dinner with games.

Give your family a gift of expansion as we move into these wonderful summer months in North America.  Show them you really care for their wellbeing by having a frank discussion about what you value and how that relates to your money and finances.  No one can have true wellness and graceful aging if you’re saddled with debilitating debt and the worry and dis ease that comes with it.

REBIRTH: Life Extension Part 2

UPDATE ON THE TRANSHUMANISTS

Apparently my last blog must have hit too close to home.  YouTube just took down my channel.  Poof!  No contact.  No explanation.  Hmmm.  However, I just uploaded this video and watched it there so maybe you can too.  Go now before they take this one down as well.

We are truly living in dangerous times.  Here’s the link to the article I reference in the video.  Update on Transhumanists

Take the First Step

Stay Active for Life is the theme for March at Janice Woody’s Lifetime Health.  Last week we talked about activity being a mindset and the fact that everything is created twice, first in the mind, then in our outer reality.  Staying active requires the most profound yet simple commitment.  We must take the first step.

Taking the first step sets us up for dramatic change.  Change is something humans resist.  The first step puts the body out of balance, necessitating the next step.  We are no longer sedentary.  We’ve upset the status quo and many times our ego will go into a raging fit about how this is inconvenient and just too big a commitment.  “I don’t even have 10 minutes to take a walk.  I’m just too busy.”

For someone who is overweight or obese, this kind of struggle may seem obvious.  But what if you’re young and active right now.  You never imagine a time when you won’t be this way.  That is where the challenge lies.  When we are living an active lifestyle, we tend to take it for granted.  We assume it will always be that way.  Sometimes we’re not present to our lives.  We may go for a run or go to the gym every week because that’s our routine.  We don’t give it a lot of thought.  We may not even know why we started in the first place.  Maybe it became a habit because of an old boyfriend or girlfriend.  I challenge you to question why you are so active right now if this is your reality.  Think about your WHY.  Knowing and understanding it, may save your life one day.

Life happens in a flash.  Our daily routines can be upset in an instant by a bad decision, people in our lives, health challenges, etc.  Before you’re aware of it, your world is turned upside down and what was once an active lifestyle changes into a stress filled, stationary existence.  It only takes a few days for some people.  Their healthy pattern is broken and they find themselves making different lifestyle choices which don’t involve much movement.

I’ve seen this in my own life.  I used to walk 3 miles every day and bike and swim.  Then I changed my work life and found myself sitting in front of a computer monitor from early morning to late into the afternoon.  I told myself this was necessary if I wanted to be “successful”.  Did it take its toll on my health?  You bet it did.  I started to gain weight, slowly at first, but then it really started to pack on.  I had always enjoyed being active, but just didn’t realize how much I needed to make it a priority for my health.  Here’s the part that’s really annoying, it took me longer to get back my stamina and previous level of strength and agility.  Whenever I slacked off, it would always take longer to come back physically.

Stay active for life.  Take the first step.  If you’re already there, take the second step and be present to why you’re doing it, how it feels and why it’s important to you.  Don’t take your life for granted.  It’s precious.  Every moment is precious.  If you get this, please like it and share it with your friends.  Visit me at JaniceWoody.com and sign up for a class or coaching to help you on your path of Wellness and Graceful Aging.

PORTION CONTROL

Let’s take a leap and make the connection between portion control and graceful aging. At first glance they may not seem to be connected. Since I’m starting from the premise of we live in a connected Universe, for me everything is connected. We only have to be open to seeing that.

Every week I talk with my clients about portion control. My favorite statement is “Remember…Portion control is your friend.” People tell me that they hear my voice in their heads when they are about to go off track. Portion control leads to self discipline which leads to feeling better about your health journey which leads to fewer calories consumed which leads to better weight management which leads to a healthier body which leads to more energy which leads to less stress which leads to longevity which leads to more chances to experience life which leads to wisdom which leads to internal peace which leads to graceful aging. WHEW!!!

That’s what I call a Unified Field. Everything in the Universe is connected. That means you are connected. If you don’t like what you’re experiencing with your health right now, change it. Adopt portion control and go for graceful aging.

1st Harvest Benefits

What is the magic in the first harvest of the growing season? The magic of capturing the first fruits of your labor. The magic of witnessing life. The magic of working with nature to produce healthful, life giving food. This is the magic of the fall season here in North America. We get to witness the glory of creation and celebrate.

There are truly millions of reasons why eating fruits and vegetables give us life and energy. Our millions of cells are a testament to truth. They thrive when we feed them fresh food. Unfortunately so many of us have been programmed to eat garbage but now is the time to awaken. Break free from the matrix and feed yourself life giving food.

Back when we first planted the thought seeds of a garden we envisioned this first harvest. It was our thoughts that led to a desire to eat better, to be a part of the process and promote growth in our garden. The garden of our mind had to be prepared first to now have the bounty of the first fruits.

One of my favorite doctors, Dr. Michael Greger has given us compelling evidence of the benefits to our bodies and minds of plant based diets. Listen to what he had to say.

Laughing Medicine for Graceful Aging

I love my grandma always. She taught me many things about life and living. One of the main things she taught me was how to laugh. She had a full belly laugh that was infectious and she laughed often. I can still hear her laugh. She laughed well into her eighties.

Laughter is the best medicine. It changes your vibration and lifts everyone around you. Dr. Bernie Siegel raved about how laughter helped him fight back cancer. Who has ever been able to remain sour after hearing a baby laugh? On the darkest rainiest day laughter can brighten any room.

“Find a laughter workshop, or think back on some very funny things that happened to you and others in your life—laughing at least every two or three hours each day will instantly give you a break from feeling emotionally down.  When we laugh, we cannot maintain a morose outlook at the same time.” Dr. Bernie Siegel

Laughing everyday is the key to wellness and graceful aging. Laugh and celebrate your freedom!

Here’s to laughing with ya!

Set the example for GRACEFUL AGING

“Well… It runs in my family so I guess I’ll eventually get it.”

How many times have you heard this statement? How many times have you said it yourself? 😳

Are we really predisposed to get certain diseases? The latest epigenetic research says NO. You may carry genetics that says you are at risk for certain diseases, but that is not the final word on the subject.

Trailblazing scientist Dr. Bruce Lipton in his book ‘The Biology of Belief’ shows how beliefs and environment effect the creation and development of disease. “Stunning new scientific discoveries about the biochemical effects of the brain’s functioning show that all the cells of our body are affected by our thoughts. The implications of this research radically change our perception of life. It shows that genes and DNA do not control our biology; but instead, DNA is controlled by signals from outside the cell, including the energetic messages emanating from our positive and negative thoughts.”

Are you fully grasping what this means? Just because grandma had crippling arthritis doesn’t mean that I too must suffer that fate. My own thoughts have a significant role to play in my health and overall aging. Aging gracefully means feeding yourself nutritious food and staying active. And now you know it also involves feeding yourself life giving thoughts.
